ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Flying Branch (Short Service Commission) :

Education: Graduation (min 3 years) in any discipline with min 60% marks and have passed Maths and Physics as a subject at 10+2 level B.E/ B.Tech from a recognized University with min 60% marks.

Maximum Age: 24 years
Min Height: 162.5 cms with correlated weight.
Min Height: 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other.

Technical Branch (Short Service Commission and Permanent Commission) :

Education: Four-year Degree qualification and have cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with 60% marks.

Minimum Age: 20 years
Maximum Age: 26 years
Min Height: 162.5 cms with correlated weight.
Min Height: 157.5 cms with correlated weight, women – 152 cms.

Ground Duty Branch (Short Service Commission and Permanent Commission) :

Education: Graduate degree (Min 3 years) in any discipline with min 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a min of 60% marks or equivalent. for Administration and Logistics posts, or B.Com (Min 3 years) with min 60% marks for Accounts posts, or MBA / MCA or MA / M Sc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International relations / International studies / Defence studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT / Management / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relation with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate all paper put together in Post Graduation (Minimum two year programme) and 60% marks in graduation for Education posts.

AFCAT EDUCATION QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

Technical Branch : Candidates would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognised University or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies. Candidates should have studied minimum 8 subjects mentioned here.

Flying Branch : Graduates (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognized University who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or BE / B.Tech degree (Four year course) from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.

GDOC: Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or a Post Graduate Degree / equivalent Diploma in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together. For Education Branch, Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together.

The Air Force Common Admission Test will consist of 100 questions and each question will be of three marks. So total marks for all questions will be 300. As far as negative marking is concerned, there is one-third negative marking in AFCAT exam. For every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted as penalty.

AFCAT paper has four sections :

  • General Awareness.
  • Verbal Ability.
  • Numerical Ability.
  • Reasoning & Military Aptitude Test.

There will be Multiple Choice Based Questions of 3 marks each. The candidates will be penalized in the form of deduction of 1 marks for every wrong answer attempted by them. Three wrong answers will take away one correct answer.

AFCAT EKT Exam:

All applicants whose online applications have been successfully submitted will be called for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) (applicable only for candidates applying for a technical branch).

EKT would be for 45 minutes and conducted immediately after AFCAT.
The duration of AFCAT Exam will be 2 Hours and EKT exam will be for 45 mins.
Candidates who will clear the AFCAT exam will be called for further SSB interview process which is also known as AFSB interview. AFSB stands for air force selection board which are located at Mysore, Dehradun, Varanasi, and Gandhinagar.
