Here we are sharing a blog which is all about important naval exercise that is being held in India.

SIMBEX (Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise) is an annual bilateral naval exercise between India and Singapore.

It is being held from 16 May to 22 May 2019.

SIMBEX was started in 1993, since then it has become an annual exercise. Over the years it has grown in operations, advanced tactical exercises, and other war techniques, etc. It has stood the test of time in demonstrating commitment between India and Singapore in increasing and expanding, enhancing the maritime cooperation between their navies and making stronger the bonds of friendship between the two countries.

The main Objective of the exercise is to aim to enhance strength, interoperability, strengthen mutual trust, and build greater synergy to address common maritime concerns among both navies.

In SIMBEX 2019, the  Indian Navy has deployed its best  assets Kolkata Class Destroyers (INS Kolkata and INS Shakti) in order to extend bridges of friendship through maritime, economic, and cultural interactions with countries of east and south-east Asia (SEA)Myanmar ships UMS King TabinShweHtee and UMS Inlay would undertake a coordinated patrol (CORPAT) with Indian Naval Ship Saryu under the program.

The ships will patrol along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) between the two countries covering a distance of roughly 725 kilometers in four days, augmented by patrol aircraft from both navies.

“The ships will also undertake joint maneuvers and drills during the sea phase of CORPAT prior to the ‘Closing Ceremony’ of the CORPAT onboard Myanmar Naval Ship,” it went on to add.

8th Indo-Myanmar coordinated Navy patrol begins

The 8th Indian-Myanmar patrol exercise will be held from 20-28th May. Navy ships from Myanmar reached Port Blair to attend the opening ceremony of the 8th Indo-Myanmar Coordinated Patrol (IMCOR) which will be held from May 20-28.

“Myanmar Navy ShipUMS Inlay (OPV-54) & UMS King TabinShweHtee (773) have arrived at Port Blair on May 20 for the ‘Opening Ceremony’ of the 8th Indo-Myanmar coordinated patrol (IMCOR), at Andaman and Nicobar Command. The Myanmar delegation led by Commodore Htein Win, Commander, Ayeyarwady Naval Command, called on CmdeAshutoshRidhorkar, VSM, Naval Component Commander on May 20.” As per the statement released by the defense department.

The Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) initiative between the navies of India and Myanmar is to address issues of terrorism, human trafficking, poaching,  illegal fishing, drug trafficking and other illegal activities inimical to the interest of both nations.

The CORPAT series was started in 2013 and since then it has increased the mutual understanding and improved professional interaction between the two navies for maritime interoperability.

The Myanmar ships would undertake a coordinated patrol with Indian Naval Ship Saryu from May 20-28. The patrolling effort will be augmented by Marine Patrol Aircraft from both the navies. The ships would patrol along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) between the two countries covering a distance of approximately 725 kilometers over a period of four days.

The ship will also undertake joint manoeuvers and drills during the sea phase of the coordinated patrol (CORPAT) prior closing ceremony of the CORPAT onboard Myanmar Ship.
